Tryouts for the Men's and Women's Basketball team begin Friday, October 1.  Women's tryouts start at 3:30 and Men's tryouts start at 6:30.  All athletes must have previously turned in their physical, data form and registration verification to be eligible for tryouts.  Anyone not having previously turned in these items will need to come to Novak Field House Room 111 for further information. 

Both teams are under the direction of new coaches.  Tiona Harris takes over the women's program after serving as Assistant Coach under former head coach and now Head Coach at Virginia Union University, Barvenia Wooten-Collier.  Coach Harris, a college alumni, is looking forward to building on the success of last year's team. With several returning sophomore players, including All-American Asyja Smith, and the addition of several talented freshman, this year's team should prove a force to be reckoned with in the conference.

Xavier Joyner takes over the men's program after legendary long-time head coach, John Wiley, retired at the conclusion of last year's season.  Coach Wiley leaves a legacy of excellence and winning traditions, which Coach Joyner welcomes and looks forward to continuing.  Coach Joyner brings a wealth of knowledge and winning tradition himself, as he previously served as Head Coach at Montgomery College Germantown.  This year's team should be filled with many newcomers to Prince George's, but Coach Joyner anticipates being a contender in the conference and Region.
