Coach Joyner just finished his second season as Head Coach of the Prince George's Community College Owls. Last season, Joyner led the Owls (22-10) to the school's first NJCAA Region XX DIII Championship. He was named the 2011-2012 Region XX DIII Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. Coach Joyner is most proud of his team's academic success over the past six seasons. Over 30 players have received full athletic scholarships to attend four-year schools under Coach Joyner's tutelage.

Joyner was formerly the Head Coach of Montgomery College Germantown from 2004-2010.  During his time as Head Coach, Joyner has been named the Region XX Coach of the Year three times and District 7 Coach of the Year once.

A lifelong resident of Prince George's County, Joyner is a 1995 graduate of Husson University in Bangor, Maine. Coach Joyner, his wife, Nikki, their twin daughters, Taylor (17), Tianna (17), and son, Xavier (11), reside in Prince George's County.

JAMES WATKINS - James Watkins goes into his third year as asssistant coach at Prince George's Community College with head coach Xavier Joyner. Watkins previously assisted Joyner at Montgomery College Germantown for five years.  He assists Coach Xavier Joyner in the day to day running of the program.  As an assistant coach, Watkins is responsible for working with the big men, scout team, practice, and game management.      

Prior to coaching with Coach Joyner, Watkins spent two years as an assistant coach at Theodore Roosevelt High School where he helped provide opportunities for all athletes to be successful both on and off the court.  In addition to his collegiate experience, he has also coached several youth AAU teams, before branching out and starting his own.

A native of Prince George's County, he attended Crossland High School and after graduating played basketball at Moberly Area Community College.  After two years at Moberly he went on to play for Husson University in Bangor, Maine where he was a two year co-captain.

Malcolm Jay is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Prince George's Community College under head coach Xavier Joyner.  Jay, a former player of head coach Xavier Joyner, has been instrumental in the success that the Owls have had over the past two seasons.  As an assistant, Jay is responsible for recruiting, scouting, pre-season workouts, individual workouts and game statistics.

A native of Prince George's County, Jay graduated from Bladensburg High School.  After graduating he attended Montgomery College-Germantown where he played basketball and earned 1st Team All MD JUCO honors for two consecutive seasons.  After moving on from Montgomery College, Jay accepted a full scholarship to play for Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  While at Fayetteville State he was awarded Defensive Player of the year as well as team captain for two consecutive seasons.  Shortly after graduating from Fayetteville State University (2010), Jay received a phone call from coach Joyner, offering him a position on the coaching staff at PGCC.
