Coach Johnson enters his fifth season as Head Track and Cross Country Coach at Prince George’s Community College. Johnson was named Head Coach with the Owls in Oct 2008, after 30 years of not having a Men's or Women's Track Team. In his first season, Johnson took the Owls to a 2nd place finish in the 2009 NJCAA Region XX Div III Championships. Riding this momentum into the 2010 outdoor season, the Owls Men's Team won the 2010 NJCAA Region XX Div III Championship, with the Men's 4x100 Relay Team being awarded 1st Team All-American Honors. The Owls Women's Team finished 6th overall with all of them placing in the top four in their events.
Johnson comes with a strong background of over 17 years of track and field experience. He was formally the Head Men's and Women's Track and Cross Country Coach at Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and the Sprint Coach at Trinity College in Washington DC. During Johnson's high school coaching career, he was named Coach of The Year 4 times, winning four 3A County Championships, two 3A Regional Championships and one State Title. Ninety-five percent of his high school athletes have moved on to four year colleges or universities with partial or full athletic scholarships.
